The Opera Holland Park Chorus in IRIS in 2016

On the occasion of the new production of IRIS at the Opera Holland Park in June, the Institute hosted a talk with Francesca Albertini Mascagni and Guia Farinelli Mascagni, two great grand daughters of the Composer.
The talk focused on Mascagni’s life, his creativity, his world-famous works, his warm encounter with Queen Victoria in 1893, which brought to a greater understanding and appreciation of Italian cultural excellency,
between the IX and XX Centuries.
The discussion will be preceded by the screening of the documentary Pietro Mascagni, a Life in Music, and of some video about the opera Iris. The Maestro’s grand-daughter Maria Teresa Mascagni will be present.
